Boats in the harbor: Peter Shmiro

        The program involves two years of full-time course work followed by              part-time course work consisting of electives (third year) and        dissertation research and writing (fourth year and beyond).

        Most students should complete the entire program including          
        the dissertation in five years.

        Course requirements include:

nine interdisciplinary core courses

five core research and quantiative methods courses

24 credits of electives and/or internship work

          A chart of required courses gives a snapshot of our curriculum.

        Our typical course schedule - semester-by-semester for both full-time         and  part-time students - is also provided.

   Course Offerings

We welcome prospective students to visit a class or two!  Our Assistant Director will be happy to make the arrangements for you (you may use the email address on bottom of this page to contact her).

This fall we are offering a new elective course on Public Policy Challenges: Urban Non-Profit Organizations. Click here to view the syllabus.

*Non-degree students may enroll in elective courses before matriculation in the program.  A maximum of six credits (two courses) will then count toward your degree. Click here for elective course descriptions. In spring 2009, we will offer a new elective on educational policy which covers major issues in K-16 education.
