Explore the pages on the site. Sign up on the Student Profiles page (there are instructions under the "Help"button to the left).

NOTE: use your email address (before the @) as it appears on the Student Profiles page as your ID and the last four figures of your student ID number as your password (unless you have already used if for a similar web site: we'll have to use, say, the first four figures instead).

There are many walk-in workshops at the Library to help you in research and other things:

http://healeylibrary.wikispaces.com/LibWorkshops

THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 20: we meet in the Library Instruction Room, just across from our normal classroom, for a session with our Library Buddy, Frances Schlesinger. Don't be late!!!

Visit the "Assignments" page regularly to keep up on what to prepare for class.  And PLEASE make whatever arrangements you must to arrive in class on time. You cannot count on the T to be on schedule and to run without incident, nor on traffic flowing smoothly.

November 8: deadline for Pass/Fail option and for Withdrawal. See me if you have any questions about these options or their consequences.

There's a new page of QUOTES from our writers, and from others, dealing with some of the themes of the course. Check it out when you have a minute... Here are a few:

"People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don't believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and, if they can't find them, make them."   George Bernard Shaw

"Sometimes people carry to such perfection the mask they have assumed that in due course they actually become the person they seem."    W. Somerset Maugham

"To change one's life, start immediately, do it flamboyantly, no exceptions."  William James

"It is not worth an intelligent man's time to be in the majority. By definition, there are already enough people to do that."  G. H. Hardy

"The only thing to do with good advice is pass it on. It is never any use to oneself."  Oscar Wilde

"People with courage and character always seem sinister to the rest."  Hermann Hesse

'When a man is wrapped up in himself, he makes a pretty small package."  John Ruskin

"There used to be a real me, but I had it surgically removed."  Peter Sellers
